Why Buy In Bulk from La Vaca?

August 30, 2021

This is the most affordable way to purchase our premium pasture raised, grass-fed, grain finished beef.

Once your purchase is arranged, your harvest will be scheduled and transported to a local butcher for processing. Your meat will be hung and dry-aged for 21 days. We communicate with the butcher on your behalf, and will contact you with options for different meat cuts if buying a whole beef. Your meat will then be custom cut and packaged to your specifications. Once ready, we will arrange delivery options!

At point of purchase, we will provide you with an estimate of when your meat will be ready; however, the actual date may vary.

Should you have any questions about the date you will receive your beef, we are always available to provide you with updates.

What will it cost, and how much meat will I get?

The cost ends up being about $12 per pound of finished beef. Each quarter yields approximately 150 pounds of beef. Every animal is different, so these prices will vary based on the weight.

What portions do I get?

Beef Sides Table Breakdown - 1/4 Beef contains an average of 150lbs with 70lbs Ground Beef, 40lbs Roasts, 30lbs Steaks, and your portion of organ and meat bones. 1/2 Side Beef contains an average of 300lbs with 130lbs Ground Beef, 90lbs Roasts, 55lbs Steak, and your portion of organ and meat bones. A full side of beef contains 600lbs on average with 275lbs ground beef, 180lbs roasts, 110lbs steaks, and your portion of organ meat and bones.

How much freezer space will I need?

The general rule is 28 pounds of meat per cubic foot of freezer space. We recommend you invest in a 14 cubic foot freezer for a half-beef purchase. Your meat will stay fresh for more than a year.
